Holt Renfrew has been giving away complimentary samples of Laura Mercier’s new “Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer” to their Holts Style e-newsletter subscribers. To my delight, I had considered investing in Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in the past, and what better time to try something new when it’s for free? I asked the salesperson what it is meant by “illuminating” and she told me to take home my sample and see for myself.
Officially, this product is:
…a lightweight, buildable sheer foundation formula that delivers a youthful, radiant finish, while protecting skin from the damaging rays of the sun with SPF 20 protection. [A] Skin-friendly formula contains a unique Dewy Complex that is proven to keep the skin moisturized and better equipped to combat external aggressors and irritants.
But skipping the formalities, I thought this product was super lightweight and blended evenly into my skin. As for the “illuminating” aspect of the name, imagine very subtle sparkles on your face. It gives your face a purposeful bit of radiance without looking oily. For $42, you get a 50mL plastic tube with your choice of three shades (bare radiance, natural radiance and warm radiance).
Anyway, I believe that was my first beauty product review on Modern Mix Vancouver. I’ll end this off with a tip: when using tinted moisturizer, mix it in with a little bit of sunscreen to increase the SPF protection.

The new forbidden fruit, deep, dark, dramatic. Lips ripened with juice cerises and intoxicating kirsches while eyes smoulder in luscious spiced chocolate. With its sense of way-to-go dark, this is how we separate the bitter from the sweet…fall drama just got more delicious.
Wow! Who writes this stuff? I think it would be absolutely creative to be the copy writer or marketing person behind this text!

You’ve probably heard the radio advertisements for John Casablancas’ Institute of Applied Arts. If you’re interested in fashion, make-up, styling, buying, public relations, costume designer, store owner, body painting, facial consulting, manicures, etc. perhaps you should check out John Casablanca’s (Institute of Applied Arts) open house this coming Saturday on June 14th at 220 Cambie street (crossroads: Water and Cambie). Because the flyer is sort of small, here is what it says:
“FREE blow-drys/mini makeovers & manicures make up advice SEE special effects make up demos/model shoots GET career information for professional training in hair, make up, fashion arts & new body spa esthetics program. borntodothis.ca“
